Weekly Report: JORDAN :)

Wow what a week of sweat, fun, sweat, adventures, sweat, camels, sweat, and yes more sweat!  But it was such a great week :)

Monday
-Mount Nebo and church: There was a large brazen serpent here that represented the story of Moses.  Look and live!
-Madaba map: large mosaic floor tile of the middle east
-Machaerus: The place of John the Baptist's imprisonment and death.
-Petra by Night: So beautiful!  The luminaries were amazing as they lit the path all the way down to the treasury.  Once we got to the treasury we had a little musical performance with traditional instruments of that area.

Tuesday
-Petra: We got there really early in the morning and walked down to the treasury as a class to ride our camels.  What an experience riding a camel is!  Haha check that off the bucket list.  From there we split off for the day and adventured to the high place of sacrifice and a monastery.  Wow let's just say the sites were beautiful but man I literally thought I was dying!  Haha!
-Amman Center: Missionary work isn't allowed in Jordan with the non-proselytizing rule but there are service missionary couples and a little tiny district.  We got to hear the conversion story of a Christian man who converted to LDS and then served a mission and now is the bishop of a small branch in Jordan.  It was seriously so amazing and the spirit was so strong!

Wednesday
-Jabbok River: This is the site where Jacob and Esau meet after a long time of not seeing each other after the birthright incident.  It is a powerful story about forgiveness!
-Jerash: This place reminded me a ton of Greece with lots of ancient columns and theaters and ancient looking things
-Yezin the Pita Man: Seriously the best human being living on the earth right now!  Haha just kidding but man does he know how to whip up some wicked awesome pita :)  Seriously SO good!
-Royal Automobile Museum
-Free time to wander the city of Amman: Breanna and I enjoyed talking to the locals and getting hooked up with tons of free samples.  We met tons of nice people and got delicious free food...best of both worlds if you ask me!

Thursday
-King Abdullah I Mosque: What an incredible experience!  It seriously felt like the temple with the amount of peace and how simple it was inside the mosque.  Our guide taught us about their prayer rituals and then we were given time to sit and ponder.
-Jordan Museum
-Lunch at Taj Mall: The mall had a legit grocery store.  Those do not exist in Jerusalem!  Yes we went just to wander up and down the aisles and guess what...they had popcorn so I bought it because I have been missing that wonderful food!!!
-Jordan River: This was a perfect way to end our Jordan adventure.  I loved the River Jordan!  It was incredible to me to realize that I was at the site where Christ was baptized to fulfill all righteousness and set the example for us to follow.
-Dinner at the Center:  The cooks here are SO good to us!  Because we missed the 4th of July they prepared this huge American BBQ dinner for us to celebrate the 4th on the 6th of July.  It was so cute of them!

Friday
-Jewish Synagogue Visit with Ophir (Israel teacher):  I can now say I have been to a Jewish synagogue service and it was actually really neat.  There was a lot of singing and time to ponder.  Once again I am amazed at the level of meaningful worship of the people here in the Holy Land.  It is really inspiring!

Saturday
-Sabbath: My favorite day of the week!
-Gethsemane and Grotto: I am so grateful to be able to walk outside the center, go on a 15 minute walk and arrive at the Garden of Gethsemane.  What a blessing!  The spirit was so strong and I had a lot of touching moments while there today.  Jesus Christ really does know each of us personally because the atonement of Jesus Christ is so individual.  I know Christ is MY personal Savior!  I know that He lives!  I know that He cares and loves me beyond comprehension!  How grateful I am to have Him as a constant Friend.

Pictures:  I will try and get them up on here as soon as possible.  The internet has kinda been freaking out lately and has been slow but I will do my best to get the week's adventures in pictures up soon.  Love you all!
